Thanks mom for the picture!

This is where it will all happen. We've had many discussions with many different people about this tree. Is it the prettiest, most stately tree on the property to choose from? Probably not. Does it need something hanging from the limbs? Maybe. Is the barn in the background ugly? Who cares. Let me just wax poetic for a bit because doesn't the entire situation seem slightly symbolic? It's us making a decision together and sticking by it, although it may not be the most popular choice (the theme of the entire year). And when I want to over analyze and be all hippy, we're proud to stand in front of that tree and we're pretty friggin' good at making decisions together.

It's so easy to get lost in seating arrangements, guest lists, invitation fonts, colors, registries, etc. and lose sight of why, exactly, you're having this occasion in the first place. I mean, you ask a control freak, decor junkie to plan a wedding and you unleash a monster. So instead of nitpicking the guest list, deciding which toaster oven to put on the registry or what paper would be the best quality for our save the dates, Jon and I listened to our favorite songs last night and decided what we wanted the officiant to include in the ceremony.

Sometimes you have to unplug, reconnect and realize it will always be about the two of you and nothing else.

P.S. Thank you for listening.

  2. A tree! Oh dear. I think I already know what your wedding gift is going to be - the stitched Guitar Hero will definitely have to wait.

  3. Awesome! Brian and I are having all of the same dilemmas. Where is this, by the way?

  4. i think it's perfect and beautiful- even the barn in the back. Anywhere is beautiful when you are there making promises to and in front of people you love.

  5. Oh, it's awesome and with a beautiful sentiment. Nothing needs to be hanging from that tree.

  6. I applaud the efforts to keep sight of the important things. When the day comes, you really won't give a crap about the kind of paper you used and no one is going to stay where you seat them anyway!
